Here's an excerpt of a presentation and Q&A by Mariana Marques, who shared Azimuth World Foundation's work with students at the D. Filipa de Lencastre High school, in Lisbon, Portugal.

"We must learn to pursue empathy and understand problems not from our perspective but from the perspective of the people going through them. It's important to understand and respect what matters for these communities and how they want to be portrayed and seen. We need to have that openness and become allies, which is what our organization tries to do every day: to pursue this empathy. Because we are all equal. We function differently, have different personalities, but we should all have the right to dignity and respect." - Mariana Marques - Executive Director - Azimuth World Foundation

Teachers Ana Capitão and Lurdes Jóia spoke with us about the importance these initiatives have for their students:

We are an ally to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities dealing with matters of access to Health and Water and the protection of the right to maintain traditional ways of living in harmony with Nature.
